The Judicial Nominating Committee welcomes the interest of qualified persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the Bench of The Provincial court of Manitoba when there are positions available.

It is the responsibility of the Judicial Nominating committee to recommend to the Attorney General a list of not fewer than three and not more than six names of individuals for each position. 

Applicants must have practised for not less than five (5) years as a barrister and solicitor in Manitoba, be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Manitoba, and be entitled to practise as a barrister and solicitor in this province, or have other equivalent experience.

The mandate of the Judicial Nominating Committee is to assess the professional excellence, community awareness and personal suitability of candidates, while taking into account the diversity of Manitoba society (c. 275, The Provincial Court Act).

Applicants must be willing to reside in the Court Centre of the vacancy and be capable of and willing to travel by automobile and small aircraft to circuit courts throughout the province. 

Judicial responsibilities include a caseload of criminal cases and child protection matters.
